Rob Mazur, Lead PI of the Feed the Future Legume Innovation Lab project Farmer Decision Making Strategies for Improved Soil Fertility Management in Maize-Bean Production Systems was chosen by his colleagues at Iowa State University to receive the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Award for Excellence in Graduate Mentoring this past May. The award and a one-time stipend will be presented to him at ISU’s Fall Convocation in September.

The Excellence in Graduate Mentoring Award is given to selected faculty “to recognize the effectiveness of major professors who serve as mentors and who enrich the student-professor relationship by support and attention to detail that enables students to finish their work in a timely and scholarly manner.”

Exemplifying his excellence in mentoring, this year two of Mazur’s graduate students, Sostino Mocumbe and Naboth Bwambale, not only successfully defended their respective M.S. theses but received prestigious awards related to their research (see related story).
